The one common habit which causes disease
There is one common habit many people have which causes disease. By changing this habit, you can cure or prevent most diseases. You will also feel much lighter, much better energy, more clear mind, and, thus, more happy. Why and how?
There is a deep connection between our digestive system and the immune system. Approximately 70% of the immune system lies within our digestive system. But the immune system is often compromised by continuing this one unhealthy habit.
There are people who have many unhealthy habits, such as smoking and drinking, but if they don’t have this single one bad habit, they are generally much healthier compared to those who have this bad habit.
The single most common problem for a healthy immune system and overall health is simply this: Snacking or eating when you are not hungry.
Here’s the reason. When food is taken irregularly and excessively, especially when we have little or no appetite, it becomes impossible for the digestive fluids to digest the food properly. Consequently, the undigested or partially-digested food ferments, creating poisonous gas and bad bacteria.
Then the secreted digestive fluid gradually turns into harmful acid. The digestive fluids are themselves acidic, but under normal conditions when they digest food, they themselves are also digested. However, during these kinds of irregularities, when we are unable to digest the food, the fluids themselves also remain undigested.
The poisonous gas produced by the decomposing and fermenting food, together with the putrid acid, causes acidity. When this happens repeatedly, then the acidic condition becomes systemic and causes our blood-purifying organs to become weak. In their attempt to get rid of this excess acidity, the digestive organs become weak and bad health sets in.
This poisonous gas also disturbs the nerve system, which disturbs the brain, and so makes our mind foggy — clear thinking is more difficult, so small problems become big problems. Eliminate the cause of this fermentation in your stomach and your mind becomes clearer, all your energy improves, and the whole of your life improves!
How you can overcome your dependency on snacks
Those who are used to snacking between the main meals can instead:
- Eat juicy fruits as the first step towards better health.
- When you have managed to replace one snack with fruits, you can extend it to the other snacking times also.
- When you feel comfortable with this new habit, you can step-by-step replace fruit with smoothies.
- And then replace with fruit or vegetable juices.
- When you are even more comfortable, replace this juice with diluted juice (20% juice, 80% water), or with lemon water with a tiny bit of salt.
- Proper water drinking will then ultimately replace even these light liquid snacks
In case of demon hunger and how to test it
Extreme hunger at odd times when the stomach is still full of food is called demon hunger. This false sense of hunger results from the excessive discharge of digestive fluids due to the habit of eating when not hungry, when snacking on hard to digest foods like sweets, cookies, cheese, etc..
Emotional hunger
Many people eat snacks for emotional support, due to stress and other difficulties. The solution is still the same as outlined above, but just make sure that the fruit, smoothie or the juice you have is healthy, delicious and satisfying.
Remember to drink it slowly while using a spoon — i.e. drink it like it is soup. In the winter, you can even warm it up so that it really becomes a soup. Yes, of course, you will lose nutritional content and enzymes due to the heating — but you don’t need that nutrition!
Rather, with this habit, you are gradually ending your emotional need for in-between snacks. So no real harm to kill that nutrition for the sake of a greater cause. You’ll get the nutrition you need during your three normal meals.
If your emotional eating habits are too difficult to overcome, then we suggest you consult a counselor to get help with your challenges.
Remedies for pain due to acidity or stomach ulcer
When you have acid reflux, ulcer or other digestive issues, most doctors will tell you to eat many small meals throughout the day. You may avoid your pain temporarily that way, but your digestive system will gradually become worse and worse as more and more fermentation occurs due to eating when there is already food in the stomach.
To correct this situation, here are a few simple ways to temporarily reduce your acidity. If you then eat only when you have real hunger, not demon hunger, or acidic pain, your condition will step-by-step improve, until you no longer have such pain. Then you can gradually improve yourself towards achieving optimum health.
Here are a some remedies for these pain conditions:
- Potato water
The potato is not just a rich source of carbohydrates, but it also offers the best anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties to treating acidity effectively. Potato water can indeed prevent stomach acidity. There are 3 ways of preparing potato water:
- Peel off the skin and then extract the juice of two to three potatoes in a juicer. Then dilute it with some water. Drink this potato juice every time you need it for relief from acidic burning.
- Another way is to peel the skin off the potato, then cut it into thin slices. Soak these overnight in a glass of water and drink the water early in the morning on an empty stomach, or whenever acid pain is present.
- The third way, which is not as good as the above two, but good if there’s no time for either of the above ways, is to peel the skin off, and slice the potatoes very thinly. Then boil the slices in water for 15 minutes.
Boil white refined rice in excess water for 15 minutes. You may add a slight amount of natural salt so that it tastes better. When the water has become cloudy and slightly thickened, then strain with cheesecloth and keep the liquid in a thermos. Or it can be refrigerated, and, if you desire, reheated before drinking.
Take 2 oz of aloe vera gel and mix it with a teaspoon of baking soda in a little water. Gives immediate relief upon consumption.
4. Fennel and ginger water
Make tea from fennel seed and finely sliced ginger root. Drink this tea whenever needed.
